KVMSwitchTech Announces Enhancements to Existing Line of Video Splitter Products for a WideRange of Applications

Video display technology is constantly evolving and Video Splitter products used to distribute high definition (HD) content must keep pace. HDMI has proven to be a robust format for handling the expanding capacity needed for 3D content. Video Splitters have been around in a variety of formats for many years. Original splitters were simple Y-cable solutions. These cable solutions are largely ineffective as they do not provide full signal strength to each display. They were also susceptible to ghosting and image artifacts because of poor shielding. Much of this was overcome with the introduction of powered hardware splitters and switches that boost the signal for each display to full strength. Video Splitter products are available for almost any format including Composite Splitter, Component Splitter, S-Video Splitter, VGA Splitter, DVI Splitter, and HDMI Splitter. Of these formats only DVI and HDMI are capable of supporting high definition 3D content. While DVI is still popular in the PC market, HDMI has come to dominate the TV industry due to the native audio support. All these Video Splitter products come standard with CE, FCC, and RoHS certifications. Some of them also have UL Grade medical certifications.


Video Splitters range in price and capabilities to match user needs. Most Video splitters use simple push-button controls, but can also include RS232 interfaces and infrared remote controls. Customers who need to use VGA Splitter or DVI Splitter will be happy to know that options are available with audio support with dedicated 3.5mm audio jacks for each display. S-Video Splitter units are available with stereo RCA audio jacks. Many of the video splitters are also available as Cat5 Video Splitter Extender enabling the enhanced signal to be transmitted beyond the capabilities of traditional video cables with the use of Cat5e/Cat6 network cables. COAHSI Presents LUMEN 2011 ? International Video and Performance Art Festival

The Council on the Arts & Humanities for Staten Island (COAHSI) is proud to once again present LUMEN, a video and performance art festival. Making use of Staten Island?s under-utilized waterfront, LUMEN will take place on the grounds of the National Lighthouse Museum site on Saturday, June 25, 6pm-12 midnight. The National Lighthouse Museum is less than 5 minutes from the SI Ferry Terminal, and the event is free of charge.


Building on the success of last year?s event, LUMEN 2011 is expected to draw over 800 people from across NYC. For many in attendance, LUMEN was their first visit to Staten Island and was a chance to experience the growing, underground art scene on the stereotypically ?forgotten borough.?


LUMEN 2011 will feature video installations, 3D-video technology, new media projections, animation, performance art, art interventions, and sound art. An industrial Staten Island waterfront stage will feature work from over 100 international and NYC-based artists who have shown and performed at such NYC venues as Galapagos Art Space, P.S.1, The Whitney Museum, Issue Project Room, The Invisible Dog Art Center, Flux Factory, The Bronx Museum, BAM Rose Cinemas, ApexArt, Art in General, Artists Space, Smack Mellon, Lower East Side Tenement Museum, NurtureArt, and BronxArtSpace, among others. The festival will include performances throughout the duration of the event, and visitors will be able to purchase prints from our "artist gallery".


The National Lighthouse Museum is a spectacular venue for the festival. Videos will be projected on both the interior and exterior of buildings ? on walls, fa?ades, and trees. People can bring towels and blankets to lie on while enjoying the evening's events featuring avant-garde contemporary art. It is the perfect summer evening event.


And if you get caught up in all the fun and are afraid you?ll miss the ferry back to Manhattan, don?t worry! The ferry runs all night and is only a 5-minute walk from the festival! KVMSwitchTech Announces Release of Fully Customizable 8x8 HDMI Video Matrix Switch

Video Matrix Switch technology is a well established technology that is commonly used in a variety of industries ranging from hospitality, bars and restaurants, digital signage / outdoor advertising, and home entertainment centers. Where a standard Video Splitter allows a single source to be displayed on multiple monitors, a Video Matrix Switch allows multiple video sources to be displayed across multiple displays and projectors. Video Matrix Switches are available in a wide array of options including Composite, Component, S-Video, VGA, DVI, and HDMI. HDMI is quickly becoming the standard of choice in most of these applications as it offers high definition video and audio capabilities through the use of a single cable.


Another piece of equipment that is often required to effectively use a Video Matrix Switch is a video extender. Powered extenders are needed for transmitting signals to greater distances as signal degradation increases due to interference from nearby power sources and cable limitations. While some models of DVI Video Matrix Switch devices are capable of both functions through the use of interchangeable cards, most other Video Matrix Switches do not have this option. DVI Matrix Switchers with integrated DVI Fiber Optic Extender ports are an ideal product for the medical industry. DVI Optical Matrix units are typically used for long distance DVI signal transmission (300 meters) over multi mode fiber cable. This Matrix supports up to 1900x1200 video resolutions. The key features of this DVI Router are built-in signal generator, power-off status protection, and field upgradable modular design. KVMSwitchTech?s new 8x8 HDMI Matrix Switch now makes this integrated option available for users with HDMI video sources. The 8x8 HDMI Video Matrix Switch can come preconfigured with the preferred number of HDMI Cards or CatX Cards to match the customer specifications. The system can be configured with all the ports populated, or it can be shipped with blanks and the required cards can be added in the field on an as needed basis. Not only are the individual ports customizable, but it also allows for user control through front panel push buttons, DHCP compliant IP configuration, software control using a RS232 port, or an included IR remote control. This effectively makes it a scalable matrix ranging from a 2x2 for initial cost savings up to 8x8. It is built into a 1U chassis for mounting into a 19? rack and ships with all the necessary mounting equipment. It is important to note that, while it is designed with powered remote receivers for video extension, there are non-powered options available as well for use in areas where a sufficient number of outlets are not available.

web2zone® Makes History By Hosting Female Video Game Tournament

web2zone, the nation?s leading retail Cyber Center, announced today it successfully hosted North America?s first-ever competitive female video game tournament on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at its New York City venue.


Sponsored by Intel and Plantronics, the competition attracted the best female video game teams from as far away as Texas, California and Canada with cash and prizes. Each team consisted of five players.


In addition to the all-female tournament, a male tournament was also hosted simultaneously. The winner of the female tournament then played the winner of the male tournament in a ?Battle of the Sexes? Exhibition Match for additional cash and bragging rights. The tournament matches were played using the PC-based Half-Life® Counter-Strike? game from Valve Software.
