Nat?l Trial Lawyers Assn. Names Weitz & Luxenberg?s Mary Grabish Gaffney of Philadelphia to N.J. ?Top 40 under 40' Attorney List

Philadelphia resident Mary Grabish Gaffney, Esq., has been named a New Jersey ?Top 40 under 40" attorney by the National Trial Lawyers Assn., the law firm Weitz & Luxenberg, PC, today announced.

Membership in the ?Top 40 under 40" is extended exclusively to attorneys who "exemplify superior qualifications, trial results and leadership as a young trial lawyer," according to the association.

This is not the first time the native of North Wales, Penn., has won the notice of her peers. Gaffney was named a 2010 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star in the categories of product liability, personal injury and criminal defense, the law firm said.

As a New Jersey asbestos lawyer, Gaffney concentrates on representing clients suffering asbestos-related illnesses as well as those alleging other forms of personal-injury harm. In the course of her career, she has served as lead attorney on over 300 bench and jury trials, and has successfully negotiated multi-million-dollar settlements on behalf of her clients, Weitz & Luxenberg said.

Before joining Weitz & Luxenberg, Gaffney was an associate at Locks Law Firm in Philadelphia. Prior to that, she held a post as a Philadelphia assistant public defender, assigned to the city?s Major Felony Trial Unit, the law firm said.

Gaffney is admitted to practice law in two states: New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Organizations to which she belongs include the Philadelphia Bar Association?s Young Lawyers division, and the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Associations for Justice, Weitz & Luxenberg reported.

Gaffney studied law at Temple University, completing the juris doctor program there in 2002. While an undergraduate at Catholic University of America, she played women?s varsity soccer and spent a year attending Universidad de Valladolid in Spain, the law firm said.
